Participation

Apply by 29 July (for October workshops) or 29 August (for November workshops). All registration links are available below.

Are you a tenure track, assistant or associate professor and building your own research group in Future Materials or a related field? If so, join us at Universiteit Leiden this autumn for this interdisciplinary workshop series. Present your research, learn from experts, and meet colleagues from across the alliance.

Four workshops are being organised on the following themes:

Each workshop will bring together around 20 peers from across our Una Europa partner universities. Over the course of two and a half days, you will join poster and discussion sessions and collaborate with fellow researchers and invited experts in an open and dynamic setting.

The workshop series is hosted in collaboration with the Lorentz Centre. You can find further details at the links above.

Follow the links above to learn more about each workshop and to apply.

Why should I apply to take part?

As an established researcher, this is your chance to:

  • Connect with peers from across Europe with similar research interests
  • Share and discuss your research in a supportive, interactive setting
  • Learn from expert speakers
  • Build relationships which may spark future collaborations

What about costs and funding?

There are no registration fees for this programme. Universiteit Leiden will arrange two nights’ accommodation, two lunches, and a workshop dinner for you.

Remaining travel costs should be covered by your home institution. Please check with your local Una Europa team for available funding opportunities.

If no local funding is available and you still wish to participate, you may apply for limited travel funding from Universiteit Leiden. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

To be considered for funding from Universiteit Leiden, please follow these steps:

  1. Check with your local Una Europa team about funding possibilities.
  2. If they are unable to cover your travel costs, you should still apply for the workshop of your choice.
  3. If you are selected for a workshop, you can then apply for travel funding from Universiteit Leiden. Your request will be evaluated at that stage.

Please note: The Universiteit Leiden team cannot respond to individual funding questions before the selection process has been completed.

How do I apply?

Apply using the links above for the workshop of your choice. The deadlines are:

  • 29 July 2026 (for the workshops taking place in October)
  • 29 August 2026 (for the workshops taking place in November)
