Policy Officer Brussels, Belgium Less information
We are looking for a full-time Policy Officer to join the Una Europa team to help position the alliance in relation to external policy opportunities and to reinforce our advocacy work at European level. The Policy Officer is a pivotal position, working in partnership with the Secretary-General and the team of the Una Europa office in Brussels to deliver the strategic objectives of the alliance in close collaboration with colleagues across the eight partner universities.
Role and responsibilities
- Strengthening Una Europa’s positioning and advocacy work towards EU and international policy
- Supporting the Secretary-General in the provision of external policy expertise to Una Europa management and colleagues across the partner universities
- Conceptualizing, writing and disseminating of position papers and other materials, in close collaboration with the Communications Manager and with experts across the partner universities
- Proactively monitoring EU education, research and innovation policy of relevance to the alliance, in close collaboration with the Senior External Funding Officer
- Monitoring other EU policies of relevance, including Green Deal and International Partnerships
- Developing and maintaining a personal network with key EU stakeholders, including the EU institutions and other higher education organizations and alliances
- Other relevant tasks relevant for the position
Profile and skills
- Preferably five to eight years of relevant work experience in a comparable role, preferably within the international higher education landscape. Particular experience or interest in higher education policy would be a bonus
- Minimum requirement: Master Degree
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills, including contacts at EU policy level
- Excellent spoken and written language proficiency in English; other Una Europa languages an advantage
- Ability to focus and prioritize
- Ability to work independently, as well as being part of an international team
