Una.Futura gets the Commission’s green light

News -

Una Europa has secured the European Commission’s support to proceed with Una.Futura, an ambitious four-year project funded by the Erasmus+ Programme’s European Universities Initiative. The €14.4m grant will enable Una Europa to take the next steps towards its ambition of developing a truly integrated European University of the Future.

Building on the achievements of the alliance’s flagship projects, 1Europe and Una.Resin, Una Europa will pursue a holistic approach under Una.Futura to ensure the true integration of the alliance’s education, research and innovation dimensions.

Una Europa will leverage the unique strengths of the alliance’s three newest partners – Universiteit Leiden, University College Dublin and Universität Zürich – and ensure their full involvement to maximise the project's impact. Furthermore, the commitment of Una Europa’s partners from the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the University of Edinburgh and Universität Zürich, respectively, is a testament to the alliance’s commitment to driving the global competitiveness of the European Higher Education Area and to achieving a truly pan-continental European Campus.

" We are delighted with today’s announcement. Together with our new partners, we are excited to take the next steps in the development of a truly open and inclusive European University. "

Una.Futura Coordinator

Peter Lievens, Vice Rector at KU Leuven and Coordinator of the Una.Futura project, welcomed the news: “We are delighted with today’s European Commission announcement. The Una.Futura project is the result of a strong collaborative effort of our 11 institutions and our community of students, academics and professional staff. Together with our new partners, we are excited to take the next steps in the development of a truly open and inclusive European University – one that equips graduates with the skills they need to play an important role in society and tackle future global challenges.”

The alliance community will be the project’s driving force: students, academics and professional staff will be empowered to develop bottom-up activities and will take on central roles in the alliance’s governing bodies.

Una.Futura will further Una Europa’s mission to build a joint educational offering fit for the Graduates of the Future. By providing multidisciplinary research-based education at all levels of higher education – including research modules and research internships from Bachelor level – Una Europa will ensure graduates are future-ready in an interconnected and rapidly changing world.
