Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the top 10 global public health threats. The main drivers of AMR include the misuse and overuse of antimicrobials leading to the development of drug-resistant pathogens. Lack of adequate infection control, clean water and sanitation further fuel the spread of AMR pathogens. In addition to being an immediate health threat, AMR also has social and economic dimensions that must be addressed. Without urgent action, AMR threatens society’s ability to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A One Health approach is needed to address the AMR challenge. One Health is a multisectoral and multidisciplinary approach that recognizes that the health of humans, animals and their environment is inseparable and interconnected.

This multisectoral and multidisciplinary webinar brings together academic and industrial experts from the human and veterinary and environmental sectors, and new players, including economics and social sciences – all together are essential in the fight against AMR.

Organised in partnership with MSD.
