This virtual conference, organised by Germany's DAAD and in the context of the German Presidency of the European Council, will include discussions on the present and future of international mobility and global exchange in higher education. It will include video presentations, conference posters, and live workshops all related to mobility and exchange, as well as international collaboration and knowledge transfer. #MovingTarget2020

As part of the conference, Una Europa will be presenting a live panel discussion on Tuesday, October 6th, based on showcasing the alliance’s experiences with new digital formats during the height of the Covid-19 crisis and the challenges that remain in preparation for the post-pandemic period.

The panel discussion will include an Una Europa student, an administrator, an academic and a funding agency representative to discuss this process from different perspectives. Our student representative, Carmen Valenzuela Chapetón from the University of Edinburgh, will have a unique perspective, as she was involved in the UNA.TEN initiative, an Una Europa pilot for students to work in international teams to develop solutions to address real challenges in Covid-19 post-emergency times.
Giovanna Filippini, Director of International Relations Division, University of Bologna, is closely involved in the development of Una Europa's mobility formats, including the virtual mobility in emergency initiative.
Olli Peltomieni, Professor for animal reproduction at the University of Helsinki chairs Una Europa's One Health group, which - given Covid19 - had to work exclusively remotely from the outset.
Beate Koerner
heads the DAAD's unit responsible for the Erasmus+ European Universities Initiative.

The session will be moderated by Herbert Grieshop, director of the strategic Center for International Cooperation incl the Department for International Affairs at Freie Universität Berlin.

The panel will discuss the question of how the experiences that originated in the emergency situation can be transformed into long term collaboration formats. It will also discuss what is needed to keep the positive impact and the true international nature of these virtual mobility experiences. Is digitalisation the right way forward to strengthen networks and make them fit for purpose? How much can EasyJet be replaced by easy Zoom?

The session will showcase elements developed as part of our 1Europe project.
