Una Europa Student Project Incubator Autumn 2025: Una Europa in the Community

‘Una Europa in the Community’ was the fourth edition of the Una Europa Student Project Incubator. The eight-week virtual programme was coordinated by the Student Engagement Team at University College Dublin from October to December 2025, bringing together 110 students from across the alliance to explore current global challenges.

A booklet showcasing the student project ideas was produced, which you can browse below.

The programme brought together 110 students from across the Una Europa partner universities to explore one of three current global challenges:

  • Ethical consumption: Sustainable fashion and consumer activism
  • Media literacy for democratic participation: Battling misinformation and fake news
  • Digital humanities: Preserving cultural heritage

Over the course of the programme, students engaged in workshops led by community partners and academics, team-based challenges, and peer-to-peer feedback, to better understand how universities and communities can collaborate to produce innovative and impactful solutions to these challenges.

The students worked in intercultural and interdisciplinary teams, guided by a peer mentor, to design solutions rooted in the realities of their own communities. Using design thinking principles, each team developed a prototype to address a real-world community challenge, inspired by the ‘think globally, act locally’ approach.

A booklet showcasing the students’ project ideas was produced (see below). The projects reflect the creativity, collaboration, and commitment of students from across Europe, united by a shared belief that universities play a vital role in society and that students desire to contribute to change.

We hope these projects inspire further conversation and collaboration across the Una Europa alliance and beyond.
