Eleven leading European research universities have come together to create a unique alliance – Una Europa. Our universities have been educating Europe for over 1,000 years. Together, we teach over 500,000 students and count almost 100,000 university staff among our network, with digital learners numbering in the millions. Una Europa aims to draw on our collective strengths to create a truly European inter-university environment, a University of the Future.

We believe in a university that is...

1. not a place, but a body of knowledge, ideas, and values, evolving freely beyond borders, mediums and time.

Focus Areas

On the basis of their mission and values, the Una Europa partners have selected six Focus Areas to launch their collaboration. Each fosters multidisciplinarity and includes most of the studies offered at our universities. The Focus Areas act as the thematic 'glue' that ties our universities together in our mission to create a virtual campus.

Our strategy

The Una Europa 2030 Strategy is the culmination of a year-long consultation with our community of students, academics and professional staff to set our course for the future, together. Rooted in our Manifesto, this Strategy sharpens our collective focus on the opportunities and challenges that matter most as we move through the decade ahead.

Projects are the catalysts that transform our joint ambition into concrete actions. The projects showcased here are central to Una Europa, aligning with our mission, involving many of our partners and providing numerous opportunities for involvement.

Future UniLab

The Future UniLab is Una Europa's think tank. Designed as a ‘living laboratory', it provides a forum for discussion on the future role of universities in society; develops ground-breaking tools and models for cooperation in European Higher Education; assesses and future-proofs Una Europa’s activities. In order to achieve these ambitions, the Future UniLab will develop a new method for discussing the obstacles and opportunities European universities face when they join forces to “Europeanise” their activities. In the longer term, the Future UniLab is expected to become a permanent institution that brings together top-level experts and serves as a reference point in the European Higher Education and Research Area.
