What is a micro-credential?

A proof of learning outcomes that the student receives after a short learning experience e.g. a collection of courses. These learning outcomes have been assessed against transparent standards.

What is a mooc?

Massive Open Online Course. A course that can be studied online at the student's own pace.

How do I enroll to courses? How do I receive my credits?

For courses Introduction to sustainability, Climate.now, and Biodiversity.now: enrollment links will be provided on the mooc.fi platform after completion. Credits will then be issued by University of Helsinki. Please use the appropriate enrollment link according to your home institution or student status.

For courses Political economy of sustainability, and Sustainability and the arts: enroll to courses (at any time during or after studying the course), study the mooc at your own pace. After completion the credits will be issued periodically by University of Helsinki (more info on registration on Courses-page). Please use the appropriate enrollment links according to your home institution or student status.

How do I receive my micro-credential in sustainability?

After completing all 5 required moocs, the student applies for the micro-credential using this e-form. An online certificate will then be issued by University of Helsinki if the student has successfully enrolled to and received credits for all 5 courses.

Please note: at this time the certificate is available only to students at Una Europa partner universities and to students at Climate University and Biodiversity Education Network.

Can I get a separate certificate of studies from University of Helsinki?

Yes. You will also receive an automatic confirmation e-mail when course credits are issued.
Please be aware that official transcripts are issued by University of Helsinki student services and orders may take a while. More info on Open University website.
